On July 22nd in the most likely of all places to hold a sports tournament (outside Canary Wharf tube station), 70 or so London bartenders joined forces to compete in the ultimate test of athleticism, mockery skills, rum laybacks and yes, beach volleyball. The day began with timid attempts to get the ball over the net, proceeding with aggressive competition and all the romanticism of true bartender team spirit. Finally the day ended with Drunken Monkey taking the overall winning trophy, only just beating Big Easy and Sophie Mackay of course limping home.  A generous amount of faming, naming and shaming pictures can be found on Nick Rodgers FB page.

Identity will be hosting ongoing bartender sport esc events, if you would like to enter your bar team we’d love to hear from you.

Nick Rodgers has launched a brand new drinks company with a focus on high quality spirits that are looking for rapid growth in the UK. Identity Drinks Brands will initially be representing the Green Box Drinks portfolio, which consist of beautifully bottled, excellent quality English spirits and also offer a sustainable option to bars by selling in a unique, refillable bag-in-box system. See here for more details on Boxer gin and Element 29 vodka.

Rodgers said, “I knew the next step for me was to launch my own company and I intend to grow our brands by engaging with likeminded people who simply adore good quality liquids as I do, right through from producer to the customer who picks up the glass.”

Nick is on the hunt for more outstanding brands that fit the portfolio, so watch this space. If you think you have what it takes to help the team increase distribution, get in touch as Identity are recruiting across the UK.
